Recorded remotely while sheltering in place during COVID-19.

The first time I saw cellist Lori Goldston was at the 1412 Gallery in Seattle. I shared a bill with her while on tour to the Northwest. She and drummer Chris Icasiano were playing together in a duet that was hypnotic, full of energy and beautiful. After their set I broke my “don’t spend money on tour” rule and bought her solo record Creekside, that has since then been on heavy rotation at our house.

Since then I’ve seen her play solo several times. She played Gold Lion Arts in Sacramento and it is still one of my favorite sets we’ve hosted there. Later on Lori and I played a couple of gigs together in Portland and Seattle in a trio with drumming wizard Tim DuRoche. Those sets were the kind of sets that you remember and think about for long stretches of time while looking out at the highway on the road home.

While sheltering at home it seemed like a good opportunity to revisit making sounds.

Lori’s music is incredibly deep, and I’m glad to create something with her.

Music can’t be quarantined.
