about

Riding Dragons In Winter is a solo album of Steel and Resonator guitar music written for my wife and daughter. The music is very much in the raga/blues/Appalachian vibe, if there is such a thing.

Recorded by Patrick Hills at Earthtone Studio in Sacramento, CA. Artwork by Bobby Podesta. Layout by Jason Malmberg.

For Alecia and Lola. Limited to 500 copies.

"When life gets too noisy and complicated, it’s time to return to elemental things. And here’s the perfect soundtrack for those times."
-S. Victor Aaron, Something Else Reviews

"A delight of solo resonator guitar and the Sacramento native’s brand of Appalachian ragas. Lose yourself for a while in these drone-heavy meditations and explorations."
-Aaron Stein, Jambase

"Truly, truly superb..."
-Mark Ward, Sideways Thru Sound (Australia)

"His playing is deeply melodic, too, with pretty phrases that curl and rise, some that have the familiar echo of hymns or folk songs."
-John Adamian, Yes Weekly

“The sounds meld the diverse musics like raga, delta blues and Appalachian folk, combining these disparate musical forms into a unique and personal sound signature.”
-Tim Niland, Jazz and Blues Blog
